aviation fuel
anyone use 110 octane aviation fuel. i drive right by a airport thats sells it and its $1.97 gal. thats cheaper than premium pump. i was curious if it will help or hurt. they wont let you put it directly in the car but the fill up a 5gal can then put it in the car and fill it up again and so on.
I don't know if aviation fuel is rated different in octane ... but typical 110 octane fuel is not going to help your run of the mill engine. The higher the octane the slower it burns so it only helps, highcompression or forced induction engines. If your not running tons of boost or have ridiculous compression ... it's only going to hurt you.

Aviation fuel is leaded. This will kill your O2 sensor and catalytic converters. So its not for you.
However there is a way to make home brew 100 octanes if you mix 3 gallons 93, 1 gallon alcohol fuel. Look around the net for the recipe. A friend of mine runs 35 pounds of boost on his GN this way.

going to say that same
ok, just to clarify "aviation fuel" is an incorrect way of putting 110 leaded race gas. aviation fuel is almost the same thing a diesel fuel but actually a little bit thicker. and if your going to question my knowledge on this im in the Air Force and i pump millions of gallons of jet fuel all the time. i dont know where they came up with the term aviation fuel but it is far from correct......
anyways just letting you know what real aviation fuel is and if it is REAL avaition fuel it should only be like $0.60 per gallon.

98, I am sure you are correct, but I believe they are talking about av-gas, which is not Jet fuel. I run it in all of my Jet-skis. It is not any thicker than pump gas and usually runs about $2.40 a gallon. I have not bought any in several months because I refuse to go out on the water in the winter but next week I will tell you exactly how much it is.

Right...Avgas is for piston aircraft and it is 100 octane and is blue (100LL). It gets the octane bump mostly from lead additives. Its also very dry as far as gas goes. I would not use it myself and I can get as much as I want free. Stick to race gas ya cheap bastards.
