Default tachometer?

I'm curious...the aftermarket tachometers, does it matter what one I get, if I get one? IF I get the '93 VW Fox, I'm gonna want a tachometer, not a clock, as seems to have been the preference by the German engineers. Personally I can't imagine anything short of a Paper Rock Scissors game deciding that one for them.

But anyhow, does it make any difference? They all connect the same, right? I just never thought a manual car would come without a tach...guess I was wrong.

And any chance finding one used, cheap? Like, $25 cheap? Don't care if I have to trampse in a junkyard for hours, just seems like a waste to buy something that should have been on the car originally, for $100+.

And no, I don't need a 6 inch monstrosity, nor a carbon fiber, super lightweight one. Just a damn needle and some numbers will do, up to whatever the rev on the little engine goes.

Summit has a wide selection. I'm sure you could find an in-dash unit that was within your price range. Especially if it's a lower-revving engine.
