Default right hand drives

hi anyone i wanted to bring my car in from out of country and i wanted to know if it is ok to have right hand drive cars in the united states.

yes, but the emissions have to be ok'ed by your local testing facility, or if you dont have a facility, i think they do a safety thing and make sure you can pass the driving test....bout all i know

what type of right hand drive you got?

you can have it here, but you won't be able to register it and get a tag for it, unless you do it for show/race purposes only.

why wouldnt you be able to register it? and get a tag?

i didnt know, ive seen about 2, and one was the mailman, the other was at a show but he said he drives it regularly

wheres ricerocket when you need him

basically the vehicle needs to pass crash safety standards and emissions standards (national not local) and all that gets expensive, you could import it but the vehicle will need to be cut into 3 sections and the middle section destroyed

if Im off on any of this Im sure charles will catch it

Talk to TaylorDurden.... He has a right hand drive 240.... You can have them here and it shouldnt be a problem to get it registered etc.... Maybe you could register it as a collector car.....

he made that himself, it started out as lhd, and Im sure that as far as teh gov knows its still lhd

This is true but to my knowledge he hasnt been pulled over for it and i dont think anyone has bothered him about it....

My point is its not illegal to have a right hand drive vehicle, and being that its legal, it cant be too hard to register it.....
