I think we're both in the same boats here when it comes to blue book values.
And I agree, DSMs aren't necessarily as dependable as say a Honda...but then again, most any turboed and/or highly modified vehicle producing signigant amounts of power is going to be high maintenence. However, I probably know as many DSM owners who have had no problems as those who have.

My car's value was staying pretty good until the damn rsx came out 
and did anyoen else notice those prelude tail ligths didnt even match up with the body lines of the car? hideous! and the headlights remind me of a beretta
