Difinately one of the sports you have to see in person, before you can say its boring or you only watch them go in a circle.

I've been to first Pepsi 400 night race as well (awsome at night!!), the Daytona 500 when Earnhardt passed on, and Coca Cola 600, and the Winston. Superspeedways are great, but I would like to go to a short track to see what its like too.

Advice to anyone who goes to a race........bring a small walkman and headphones. Tune into the track station and you can hear all the announcing going on, like on T.V. It helps especially at a Superspeedway, you can hear whats going on this way and know where to look on the track. Otherwise your in the dark as to who is pitting and what the drivers are saying, whos in what position etc. A lot of times you can't see the other side of the track to know whats going on.

Watching all the beating and banging going on, and the brakes glowing as the dive into the turns. After that race, I can't stand going to Daytona for that snooze fest.
Bristol is the best spectator track IMO. Anyone who wants to see racing at its best should go to a Bristol race.

BTW The rain sucks. Now I have to wait until monday to see the Busch race

My wife and I would love to go to Bristol in the near future..
Short tracks are kick ass as well..
As for another event that you need to go to in order to truly appreciate the sport of Drag Racing is the GatorNationals..
Nothing like it.. period...
I can't wait this year!

I personally like watching F1 racing. It has a much better variety of manufactures like Mercedes, BMW, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Ferrari etc... and more complex tracks from all around the world making it more interesting for a lot of people watching.
How come nobody on this site like racing for the racing not the type of car they drive or which way they turn? I love all forms of auto racing but being that I like to watch the racing action and not just fast cars driving around a track I prefer to watch series like Nascar and I.R.O.C. over F1 which may have more manufactures but there is alot less action in the races and IMO it is not as hard to drive a F1 car as it is a stock car since the F1 cars basicly drive themselves compared to the less technical stock cars. Not to mention that even if they may have more manufatures racing only a few are competitive enough to win.

Watch trading paint at Indy when Jeff Gordon and Juan Pablo Montoya switched cars it is easy to see that the Montoya had a much harder time trying to drive the stock car then Gordon had trying to drive the F1 car.

Since F1 is a combination of everything including engine/chasis manufacturers, teams, and drivers it's more interesting to me. If one manufacturer makes a stronger engine than the others, then they deserve that advantage.

I have to disagree w/ you. IMO everything you mentioned aboved in F1 applies to Nascar as well, and any type racing for that matter. Nascar teams are huge wich also include engine/chasis manufacturer, pit crew teams, mechanic teams back at the shop, driver and so on....
Don't forget, in Nascar you have restrictor plates, why? Because technology had gotten these cars too fast so for safety they had to slow them down. Imagine how fast they would have these things at a Superspeedway w/ out the plates. End result of that is now Driver talent does play a bigger role because the cars are more competitive speed wise. (I'm not saying Nascar is harder to drive, who am I to say, I haven't driven either one, just I believe thats how it came to be seen that way)

It's too bad Nascar has gotten the reputation as the "Redneck" sport. Me and my husband are far from being the so called "Redneck" we just enjoy racing in general. F1 is the first racing I watched on T.V. with my dad when I was little. But w/ that we watched the drag races, Nascar, Tractor pulls, and Monster Trucks. And still do
