Question Ground Wire Kits

Just a question as to what the kits ground to. Such as what parts of the engine (I know block, alternator, Ignition)

I know this may make me sound stupid but I really don't know much about htis topic.

Do you ground them right from say the alternator to a grounding point or from the battery to the alt then to a ground?? Can someone make sense of all this for me???

Thanks!

not sure what your asking...a grounding kit? what is it for? or are you just talking about all the factory grounding points?

There is no set way but I use the ground terminal on the battery. Do what works for you though.

EDIT: Relized what I said is confusing. To clarify, from the negative terminal of my battery I have all the wires running to different grounds.

is it better to run each ground point back to the battery, or can you "daisy chain" them, from one to the next (would make it look cleaner)?

I think it would be better to run them all back to the battery, but you can daisy chain (some people don't like to look at 3 plus wires running from the battery) In my head it would seem better to NOT daisy chain but I doubt it would make a huge difference. Like I said do what works for you

yea, i have heard of people doing it both ways. i would think running each back to the battery would be better, but daisy chaining seems easier/cleaner. either way is better than none at all, im sure.

I had my doubts at first also, but there was enough back to back dynos done to 300ZX's that tried it (gave 5+ HP) that I was willing to spend the $15 and one hour of time to do it to my Z.

You do realize that all dyno's have a margin of error of at least 1% so anything less than 10hp is pretty much a coin toss as to whether you actually picked up HP.

And finally, I'm sure you also realize that you can't feel HP changes of 10hp or less in seat of the pants testing. So while you guys stick to buying grounding kits, I'll be at home installing my nitrous scented air freshener which should net me similar results.
It will make a diff if the factory grounding points are substandard to begin with. There has been enough dynos on several cars to prove to me that they work, I'm sure after time most people will come around to accepting this. Anyway I'm not really looking to argue about it, if you don't want the extra ~5 HP for $15 or then feel free to not do it.
