Good luck man. My fiance modeled for Makes and Models (4/'03) then worked for them for several months until the magazine started going down the drain. After working behind the scenes she said it was tough keeping money coming in. Any revenue from getting people to buy ad space just went to pay off the printers and such. There was also some cutthroat competition from another new Florida magazine called "RPM". It became obvious that times were tough for Makes & Models magazine so off she went to get a real job. That tech article you featured is cool and different from the other 2 Florida mags mentioned; I say stick with it and you may gather a more "enthusiast" oriented following rather than some heehaw just looking to see some tits and ass.

The magazine looks good. Where can we pick it up?

Also, I will be at the track even with a couple memory sticks, a 3.1 megapixel camera and a crappy (no firewire) digital video camera. Would be cool to see some of the TR event in issue #2 or #3

Default Interesting

Funny, my GF worked for makes and models as well as a graphic designer and front office person. She worked for George for approx 2 months, they certainly did have money problems as his creditors were always calling, etc... Its ashame because they had alot of very good clients, that Kandi had brought in. Over $52K one year I beleive. The magazine business is rough, and you have to stay grass roots. They didnt...George even failed to cover the melbourne cars for charity car show which benefits children with cancer, since they would not buy and ad...sad.

What finally pushed my gf over the edge with the whole thing, was George didn not pay her for 2 pay periods, and has to this day made no effort to compensate. He still owes most of his writers, which incidentally have now moved over to my camp.

At any rate what finally pushed my gf over the edge was that George expected her to cover for him with his wife joyce while he was out having a fling with his "model liason". At one point the poor guy took his model liason out for a birthday dinner, dressed her up, bought her lingerie, and took her out in a limo...his wife caught wind of it and it put my gf in a very bad position. So, she just quit and has not resented it since.

At any rate thanks for the compliments on the magazine! Its a different approach and we all hope it works. Taking it grass roots. RPM Registries is M&M but organized better, the owner David Rader is pretty full of him self.

Oh, and about prinitng, the reason M&M had so many issues was the fact they printed on glossy card stock...still shaking my head on that. I have talked with the people who run the printing company where that mag was printed, Eastern printing. They seem very cool however, very into NSX's. Oh, well learn from others mistakes is all we can do.

Default You can order a copy off of our website.

Click Here to Visit the Subscriptions and Order page of www.DownShiftOnline.com

Thats probably the quickest best way to get a copy in Tampa at the moment. Several shops are carrying it, but a few things have to be worked out. Starting with issue #3 we should be carried in Borders book stores.
