Default Williams BMW gets radical new nose

Wow...it's hideous, but if it's enough to unseat Ferrari, it'll do.

Journalists, partners and many more guests witnessed the official launch of the all new WilliamsF1 BMW FW26 in Valencia, Spain.

In 2004, the stakes will be high for the BMW WilliamsF1 Team. Having come so close to success in 2003, there is only one achievement that will satisfy in 2004 - outright victory in the Formula One World Championship. In 2003, the team’s achievements were notable, but insufficient to claim to be the very best. After a difficult start to the season, the team headed the World Championship, but conceded defeat in the final race of the year.

Necessarily, then, the BMW WilliamsF1 Team has high ambitions for 2004. The starting point for the team’s ambitions is to be a competitive force from the very first race with the new WilliamsF1 BMW FW26 chassis and the new BMW P84 engine. While the car will be all new, the team has stability in the capabilities of Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher, backed up by the test and reserve driver Marc Gené.

Team Principal Frank Williams commented, “We have acknowledged our shortcomings of 2003. In 2004, we must be competitive from the off if we are to realise our potential. I have every confidence that the team has all the elements necessary to win in 2004 - we must simply seize the opportunity.”

The pic is small, but it's the best I could do at the moment.

How the hell is that front end more functional than last year's front nose?

Montoya won't win the WDC this year. It'll either be Kimi or M. Schumacher again---7 WDC!

Montoya said many times last season that the car wouldn't "turn-in" This new nose is suppose to put more air over the front wing and as a result reduce understeer. We willl see.... cars being equal, Montoya is a great match-up for Shumacher (Michael)

It is wierd looking, but if it works I am all for it.

I'm sorry but I'm a tad more in favor of Ferrari over the past few years. Ferrari has remained consistent and has continued to produce beautiful cars and has treated Ferrari owners as royalty whereas BMW slipped at the dawn of the new 7 (which is bad ass, but NOT a BMW), creating off the wall stereotypical "concept style" cars just as every other company on the market has.

Anyway, this has nothing to do with F1, but BMW can rot.

Ferrari owners spend over $100k on a car. They'd better treat their owners like royalty. As for the new 7, it looks like shit and they have proceeded to abandon their roots in favor of some sort of bloated, hump backed car design philosophy. I don't care about their road cars though, I just want someone to beat Ferrari's German bumper car pilot and his fan club.
