This is really for everyone and anyone who does work on thier own cars. From simple repairs to major rebuilds.

I find that when working on my engine or doing simple repairs it is the labor part that i like because it zones me out.

I like the technical part as well, but mostly when I am just conversing with friends.

When it's time to get in there and get it done, it's nice to just zone into and do it, without over thinking things...if that makes any sense.

discuss...

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

I have been wearing rubber gloves when I work on my car. Keeps my hands clean. That's just how I am...I hate having dirty hands. Kinda need to keep them clean for work, too.

I'm weak. If it doesn't involve a lot of strength, I am ok. Guess I'm not so great on the "labor" side.

my problem when working on things is i tend to over think them... case in point, had to change my headlight bulbs the other day. tried to take the entire headlight and turn signal package off the car, about 6 bolts and 3 screws later i realized all i had to do was unplug the harness and undo one screw and just pull the bulb out from the back of the housing.

For any mods I do to my car/or anyone elses, I do a ton of research before hand. I try to know every aspect before I actually take on the project.

And as far as the labor side...I love it. I may get pissed at some of the tidious procedures, but then when I am finished I feel this overwhelming joy in knowing that I did the work.

I prefer to be the brains and muscles to the operation.Much better bragging rights. lol
