if there is a bent valve, there is possibly other damage, like that to the piston that hit it.

uhmm, if you lucky and its JUST a bent valve. not a whole lot, you'll just have to have someone pull off the head disassmble and put a new valve in it and while its off i would go ahead and have them ported out real well and possibly a new set of cams since its all apart.

 

what's the worst case scenario - b/c the guy says there's no rod knock - where should I take it 2 get inspected b4 I buy it - anyone know of any good place?

 

did he tell you how much the belt jumped ? My friend's 3000 gt tensioner went out and it jumped only 3 teeth and after i put a new tensioner on and retimed it, it was fine.. On that motor you probably have a safety window of +/- 10-15 teeth
