Anyone still think Rotaries are unreliable?
i know there are some uneducated people who remember "Dem Rotor engines from the 70's... that Wankel guy made dem" and are Pro-Piston and absolutely convinced that Rotaries will NEVER make it past 100k miles... ever. and they are unreliable and worthless and what not... well heres to all you nay-sayers.

its a movie, so its gonna play in your Wimdows Media player. You might have to update your software...hopefully you dont have 56k cuz its a 10 minute video.... then again, if you still have 56k, [/SELF]
Anyone who is on RX7club.com or TeamFC3S may have already seen this video.
Here is the original thread
after you see this video... ask your self if YOUR motor could do this? After 170k miles???
Enjoy!

JFWY, yep it's amazing what those little wankels can get away with. They are tough...but I woudn't want one for my very own.

they are pretty damn insane... if that thing had a cooling system that was up to the proper working order... that thing woulda lasted longer...
i also heard from multiple sources that when the 13b was still in R&D, they strapped it to an engine stand without a load and ran it at 28,000 rpm for 4 days and 4 nights... appanantly the test was aborted because the it was consuming too many Drums of Fuel.

thats impressive for any old motor.
ive heard of plenty of rotaries going over 100k, with maintenance, but in the end they still have a hp limit i think. but for the design it was a decent motor.
i just find piston engines more fun
