Actually I'd say a late 80s early 90s Japanese car.
Just in case, first gen dsm's are not *usually* reliable. At all. They've all been used and abused and treated like garbage and some of them make you realize the advantages a car with an underpowered motor that you can swap have, for example, the fact that you replace all the shit that's gone wrong at once, instead of when something breaks once every week or two. There are DSM's that haven't been abused, they're just really hard to find.

Just thought I'd make sure that was clear.

i was gonna say a 1g dsm. if you are looking for performance and you dont have a lot of money a 1g dsm is the way to go. but if you need a car to be reliable, dont buy a dsm dude. especially for 2500 be cause it would probably have close or over 100, 000 miles on it and shit just breaks down. alternator, starter, trannys get notchy, they tick. they arent a great car to havce unless you are somewhat mechanically skilled. and you will put money into fixing them. i say try to find like and old stock civic or something. very reliable and economical. plus if you ever come across some real money you can always do a nice swap.

I've seen some pretty nice second gen Probe GTs around that price. No kidding. Not sure why, as far as I know they are nice, reliable cars, they don't respond well to engine mods though.
