My Oil Pump Is HUGE !
Objects on stove may be larger than they appear. :o
As the pictures show today I finally disassembled and cleaned my oil pump.
I have rebuilt a lot of oil pumps before including high volume big block pumps but the size of this thing just amazes me.
Its actually two pumps in one; A scavenge pump to remove oil from the motor and send it to the 12 quart oil tank and another pump that sends pressurized oil through the coolers and the motor.
I have read somewhere that these turbo pumps can move a quart of oil every couple of seconds and I would believe it by the look of this thing.
Since the 930 uses oil as a cooling fluid an abnormally large oil pump is a requirement.

Actually its over 16 years old.
With the exception of the beefier design of the turbo motor (the new 911 Turbo, GT2 & GT3 still use the 930 lower end) the porsche flat six is about 40 years old.
