Here's an example of what I'm talking about. People who don't know what they're talking about, because they've never driven on anything else. No offense to this guy, because I'm sure they are a lot better than whatever he WAS using previous to the FZ4's, but they are by no means a performance tire. And they are FAR too expensive for what you get.
I can comment on these because I actually had a set on the Protege about 4 years ago.
These tires don't grip for crap. They are quite similar to the Nittos in tread compound, something quite close to all seasons. They are relatively loud at the limit, and the limit comes quick. What they are, is predictable. But they don't have half the traction of the ES100s and even the 712s have better performance. They did last a long time, but that lends itself directly to the fact that they suck as performance tires.
Durable? sure
Traction? where?

and even if he was talking about the ES100 vs 712, which is what the original post was about, he is incorrect, as the ES100s will wear out sooner, because they are a vastly stickier compound.

If you are a 1/2 way aggressive driver then I would lean towards a 300 or 320 rated tire. Have you looked at the Pirelli P7000 tire? It will feel a little greasier - but a decent tire too - more multiseason. Even with the 280 rating on the Yoko ES100's and the Kuhmo 712 you might be pushing it to get 25,000 miles out of a set. (I know I would)
I am assuming too that you are on TR for a reason - not just to meet hot chicks.

But seriously, unless you drive like my grandma you will be lucky to get 25K miles out of any tire.
yeah... honestly i'm a pretty aggresive driver, i don't spin out too much tho. especially with this exhaust leak
that+t25= easy to keep traction
