Default Might have seen my car on the Howard Franklin today..lol

I was going over the Howard Franklin well wasn't really on it yet just where it turns into 4 lanes and my tranny went out of gear and stayed out lol. I pull off into the triangle median section there and open the hood. I checked the tranny fluid. It was so low I couldn't see any on the dipstick. So I put a quart in which I had in my trunk. Let it sit for like 20 and tried starting it but it was still too hot to go into gear. I look under the engine and it didn't look like there were any leaks really then I saw a drip. Stupid front tranny seal has a baby leak and me being the overlooking idiot that checks all my fluids except my tranny fluid before i left for st pete didn't realize it hehe. SO we had the tow truck tow it back to mulberry which we got shafted cuz he couldn't turn around so he had to drive across the bridge and back over the bridge then to Mulberry. We get it home check the fluid again and it's fine. So I start it up and it drives normal. *sighs* could have just waited a while instead of calling the tow truck lol. I think I need a tranny cooler on my car anyways I heard there was an issue with Ford FWD trannies and cooling anyways, there's some litigation and lawsuits against Ford at least I dunno. Oh well made for a fun afternoon rofl.

I'm guessing it is an autotragic tranny? Were you planning on swapping in a manual with the new SPI? That would definately solve all your problems.

Any luck sourcing some affordable aftermarket parts for the SPI? I heard the CVH had a HUGE following over in Europe. You may be able to find some affordable goodies from across the pond.

Most of the parts for the 1.9 fit the SPI I can even get 1.9 cams from comp cams. They have the same lift etc just the ports/valves are larger on the SPI. And the rods/bore on the Zetec is the same as the SPI so you can get Zetec rods/pistons and up the compression to 9.6:1 instead of 9.2:1 or go with some aftermarket stuffs from like esslinger or something of the like. I have lots of options, I just haven't had alot of time to do engine stuff with school starting soon gotta work out the financial aid etc thing *sighs*

Costs too much $$ to import that stuff, about the only thing thats swappable and thats with port matching is the turbo cosworth manifold but I'm going n/a =) The cosworth is more closely related to the Merkur XR4TI or the SVO since it was longitudally mounted with RWD or AWD. It even shared the same garrett turbo as the american cohorts. The difference was the Cosworth was a 2.0 vs the american 2.3. The Cosworth was a DOHC which mine is a SOHC. The NEW Cosworth engines are the Zetec engines. So yeah it was a CVH but not anything us SPI American Escorts can make any use of =P I CAN however use the Rods/pistons but I can get those cheaper here in the US for a Zetec. Lots of swappability that's why I'm surprised the Escort community hasn't exploded we have more swappable parts than any Honda out there.
