seat's first off, and replace them with lightweight racing buckets to sit on, no not bucket seats, actuall buckets......
then get under the car and drill big holes in the frame, that will lighten that up a bit .....
then we have the task of removing that heavy and large 8.8 rear end and replacing it with a light weight 7.5 rear .....
now we need to do the basics you overlooked.... like windows and hubcaps.... legally you only need a windsheild.. so ditch the rest.....
put on some nice 13'' rims with the hubcaps removed... this will not only give you less weight, but will give you a better gear ratio as well......
good luck and have fun , dont forget to put a wing on to keep downforce for all that extra speed you'll have

Seriously are u going to use this car for only the strip or is it going to be a daily driver. If it is only strip i would remove the spare tire, all power accessories, A/C, anything else that you wont need. I wouldnt remove the spare if it is a daily driver cause u may need it one day.

If its a hatchback, the rear carpet and sound deadening weigh a ton! You could just remove the sound deadening and leave the carpet and it will look stock. Oh yeah, don't forget the spare and jack, a AAA card and cell phone weigh a fraction of the spare

Don't reomve the bumper braces. If you get in a wreck you are screwed. The bumper braces are key to most of the crash protection.
The heater core, a/c condenser (both under dash), driveshaft swap to aluminum, the heavy factory seats, efi. stuff
A fiberglass hood takes off over 60 lbs. and in a good place, the front of the car.
