Detonation.... (UPDATE)
exactly what does it sound like?
Went to the track today and made 6 runs down the track.... the car sounds like it is "popping" at WOT....
needless to say... my times sucked.

OK... so I've been looking at some descriptions on the web and it describes the sound as metallic popping or knocking.... that doesn't sound like what was happening to me at all...
I'm going to have to call someone on Monday to take a look at it.

Detonation will sound like bad gas or a metallic sounding rattle if that makes since. Who knows you could have just got a bad tank of gas.
You have a long driveway if I remeber correctly, go get on it through first gear (high rpm's), shut it down right away and pull a spark plug. If it is real white or the electrode has spots on it you are detonating.

Could it be possible you are running really lean? But not enough to detonate?? Check your fuel pressure.

it sounds like a ping..... like a small metal hammer hitting a solid peice of steel..... a popping sound might have been the motor breaking up or something..... dunno ... its hard to hear whats happening with the engine roaring away.....
