On June 1, 1909, a milestone event occurred in Ford Motor Company’s history when Henry Ford entered two “factory”
Model T’s in the very first U.S. based transcontinental race. The “motor contest” marked the opening of the Seattle World’s Fair. Beginning in New York City with 20,000 spectators in attendance, the gun fired to begin the race that would test the endurance and capability of this relatively new technology: the automobile.

Following the success of his famed 80 horsepower “999”
racer on the ice of Lake St. Clair, Ford believed the Seattle race would provide proof that a lightweight car, well-built and durable, was the right car for every day, all kinds of road use, and would showcase the vast possibilities the automobile provided to the mass market. Twenty-three
days later, after covering 4,106 miles of mostly open country,

Ford Model T #2 crossed the finish line at the Seattle World’s Fair victorious.The year 2020 provides another milestone in the history of Ford Motor Company with the official launch of the Mustang Mach-E. Once again, Ford is showcasing the latest
in automotive technology in the most iconic expression
of electric vehicle technology...the addition of another Mustang in the famed stable of ponies.

The intent of our effort is not an exact recreation of 1909’s Ocean to Ocean race, rather a re-imagined expression of
this new milestone in the history of Ford Motor Company. Ford’s first all-electric vehicle is not meant to be an under-stated, jelly-bean designed, run-of-the-mill car, rather a
bold expression of the future direction of the automobile in an attention-grabbing, beautifully sculpted body wearing the iconic Mustang badge.

This vehicle may feature advanced technology and a vastly
different powertrain, but make no mistake, it will perform
like any Mustang in the corral and proudly wear the
galloping horse on its grill.
Our Primary Goal
Our goal is to demonstrate the capabilities and technology
in this vehicle through a real-world, long distance travel
experience, combined with targeted consumer product
experiences, that will showcase the style and features of the
Ford Mustang Mach-E.
