Default Exhaust for the Mach...

if the mach was yours.. what exhaust would you get ?

I am leaning towards a catted X or H pipe..i wanted to keep the similar sound it has now.. it'll be louder.. but i dont want the raspy sound..so i was leaning towards H-Pipe.. but i cant find a good quality one i like.. more to the point....i dont knwo anything about the makers.. what works.. what doesnt..

also.. X vs H .. i see in 5.0 they tested a black mach 1.. got it inot the 11;s with some mods.. they ran a full bassani exhaust.. headers.. x pipe (off road) and cat back.. any idea where i could get more info on that system ?.. preferably just the headers/x-pipe.. leave the catback stock for now..

also.. soon i am getting 4.30's.. and a shifter (thinking the MRT one).. plus either DR's OR 4 falkens all round (for AutoX).. but not sure how the falkens will hook on the street.. anyone ever autoxed on DR's ?..i could get falkens up front and DR's in the back until i can afford 2 more stock wheels for falkens all round on the autox course..

thanks

From a flow dynamics perspective I would say X pipe.

Who cares exactly how its sounds, its all about what will make the best power.

Are you still looking for a spare set of rims for a second set of performance tires or are you just looking for streetable replacements for your existing tires?

Magnaflow catback is hard to beat for the price. The Bassani is a little better quality unit but cost 1-1/2 time as much.

If you want a catted x-pipe go with the VRS, same as the Magnaflow but a little cheaper in price. If you want a off-road unit the Dr. Gas X-pipe is the best hands down.

You have to decide if you want to stay emmisions legal or not. If not go long tubes. I would say use Kooks at this point and time, if staying with shorties for emissions the JBA's post the best numbers. I can't argue that either.

As for DR's they woln't handle well on auto-x or road racing. The side is just to soft and will cause a snap over steer feel to the car. But for straight line traction the DR's can't be beat for a radial. Nothing else will come close.

I would go with the H pipe but thats just my opinion as for the Falkens i had several sets of them they SUCK for traction but everything will compared to slicks and D.R. I like the Fulda's they seem to grip much better and they grip decently in the rain to.

Rainman voice on...

"Longtubes Ya definately longtubes"

"Ya cats suck, u don't need them ya"

Rainman voice off...

I had an x w/ cats it was ok. Put on a o/r H and felt a big difference. Ofcourse that's probably cause of having no converters. IMO catbacks are good for a paper weight. They don't really add power but really only sound. Just weld in some muffs. Hehe I said "muff" -Mark

Falken's are great in the rain... ride nice... but dont' seem to hook as well as the SZ50's that I had on there before.

I would give up the 5 or so hp for better sound, you can always easily make it up somewhere else.

If it was MY mach i would get shorty headers (easier to install), Bassani off road x-pipe, and a set of flowmasters, but thats me.

Available in a variety of sizes and colors, nice and quiet, and one hell of a Hp boost!

i'd go with an OR h pipe and 2 chamber flows, nothing beats that setup for a mean sound ...but the drone gets annoying too .....
