Ford brought back the Mustang Shelby GT350 this year, but it’s a far cry from the original.
With its aerodynamically-optimized body, independent rear suspension, magnetically-controlled active suspension, and screaming 526 horsepower flat-plane crank V8, it’s a 21st century sports car that sells for around fifty grand.
Of course if you prefer the classic, there are plenty of them in circulation that are in very good condition…at prices as high as $500,000. That’s before you even start talking about the higher performance GT350 R, which goes for twice as much. So, as they say, get ready to pony up.
Or perhaps you’d like to split the difference.
Revology, a new Florida-based company that started selling replicas of 1964 1/2-1966 Mustangs updated with modern components earlier this year, has added a GT350 to its lineup. The cars are built with brand new bodywork licensed by Ford and filled with a curated collection of modern mechanicals underneath.
Its 420 horsepower comes from the same 5.0-liter Coyote V8 found in today’s Mustang GT, but is delivered to a Ford 9-inch rear axle fitted with an Eaton Truetrac differential via a six-speed transmission that’s shared with the 2004 Mustang Cobra. A four-speed automatic is also available.

Revology Mustang
The suspension was fully redesigned, and is now comprised of unequal length control arms up front and a three-link coil-spring setup in the rear. Power steering is standard, as are three-point seatbelts and air conditioning, but the interior maintains its vintage look, despite being filled with as much high-tech electronic equipment as the customer would like.
The starting price is $139,500.00, which includes all the stripes and scoops you’d expect on a GT350, while an extra $450 buys you the front valance of a GT350 R. Revology also offers a version of the “rent-a-racer” GT350-H that Shelby designed for Hertz. The cars are either new from the ground-up, which can be tricky to register, or built using an existing Mustang chassis that maintains its original VIN.
The Revology GT350s carry an official stamp of approval from Carrol Shelby Merchandise, something company founder Tom Scarpello does not take lightly. The auto industry veteran told Fox News that “it’s an honor to represent the Shelby brand, and a pretty amazing thing. My entire staff is in awe, and feels it’s a great responsibility to deliver outstanding products.”
Revology has been a fast success since it launched in March, and is currently turning out about two cars per month as it ramps up production to meet demand. Even though the GT350 models were just announced in November, and only a rendering (which depicts a dramatically lower car than the real deal) has been revealed, it already has three in production. One of them is headed to a customer in Ethiopia who owns an original GT350-H that’s become a little too precious to drive on the street.
There’s nothing like having a spare.
