[h=1]Video: A Tour of Kar Kraft in 1969[/h] Ford fans will believe they’ve died and gone to heaven when they see this amazing 1969 home movie filmed at Kar Kraft, Ford’s private R&D shop. Here are all the legendary Ford supercars in one spot—watch this.


For a few years now, this awesome video has been making the rounds of the message boards and blogs dedicated to classic Fords, but it’s just too good not to share with the general gearhead population. Thanks to Larry Lawrence, a former Kar Kraft employee, it seems, who filmed the scene back in 1969 and saved it for posterity.
And what a scene it is—the parking lot at Kar Kraft’s Brighton, Michigan plant where among other things, the Boss 429 Mustangs were assembled. Kar Kraft, which had several facilities around the Detroit area, was on paper an independent company but in reality had only one customer, Ford Special Vehicles. In the parking lot at the Brighton plant on this day in 1969, a whole bunch of rare Ford prototypes and experimental vehicles can be seen. To name a few:
+ A Mach 2, one of three mid-engine V8 two-seaters hand-built on modified Mustang floor pans to test the feasibility of a possible mid-engine Ford production car.
+ A Ford Mark IV prototype wearing the colors of the 1967 Le Mans-winning Mark IV driven by AJ Foyt and Dan Gurney.
+ A 1969 Torino Talladega specially built for Ford president Bunkie Knudsen, sporting yellow lacquer, a white vinyl interior, and other non-production features.
+ The LID Mustang, a unique rear-engine 1969 Mustang Boss 429 we featured here at Mac’s Motor City Garage a few weeks ago.
+ A Kar Kraft-built 1969 Mustang Trans-Am racer.
