not a good sound

Default not a good sound

what would a poping noise be its like in my valve cover to my intake lifters?
only at high rpms


detnation??? i jsutfilled the tank with 93t mobile started doing it

If your wires or distributor cap are really shot it could cause an occasional misfire during the intake stroke which could cause a backfire if that might be what you are hearing.

It could also be detonation, but that is more of a crackly, pingy sound.

It could also be a bad valve train part such as a broken valve spring, bad rocker or bent pushrod.

If a lifter is collapsing at high rpms that would cause a constant ticking sound that I don't think most people would describe as a pop.

Ya, I would go with Something in the Distributor, Ignition area, OR with a Valve Spring. My friend Jeff's (GoonRUs), his car is making that same noise, and I told him it's probably a messed up Valve Spring.

Dont know everyone on this forum, but Ive never seen a car sold through this forum over $6,000... best bet is to try the Antique & Sports Car trader... they will run the ad until your car is sold for pretty cheap.
