Heartman Box intake
i have a Hartman Box Intake (PLASTIC) for a the stock 5.0 lower intake. i was wondering if it would benefit me any besides cleaning up the bay some.
right now i have 92 GT with MAC pulleys, March ram air intake with cai tube, 65mm TB, edelbrock 70mm egr spacer, Edelbrock performer RPM 5.0 intake, 1.7 RR's, E-fan, MAC headers, MSD 6AL, MSD coil, Diablo chip, 30LB injectors, C&L 85mm MAF, Smog eliminated (obviously lol), fuel pressure at 35,160 T-stat,oil relocation with cooler,130 alt, intake spacer, MAC full exhaust, steeda springs, steeda shifter, eibach sway bars, front and rear strut bars, stock option 3.08's (soon to have 3.27 or 3.55), and soon to have a 75 shot( its my DD lol)
so let me know if any of u have used this intake and wat u thought about it along with pros and cons.
i like the fact its all plastic so it stays cooler, and if i used it id get the intake spacer for it and port the lower
thanks guys

can u explain your reasoning?
i know if were to bolt a 650holley, or bigger, ill get a huge gain all through the rpm range. they runners r the same and they both dump a tone of air and fuel.
im just curious.
have u used one? you the only one who said i have to drive around at 5k rpm

I personally dont care for them, they are commonly used as an intake for a power adder application and would really shit the bed being a short runner application in a street application at low RPM, in a race with nitrous off the line it would suffice. I have seem them crack and blow apart on a nitrous backfire also which would be another reason why I wouldnt pick one up, they are unusual to say the least. But are more of a I am going to pick this up because I am cheap and dont want to spend another 300 beans on a proven type intake

i got from a buddy, i was walking through his garage and noticed it and had to have it lol. i like the plastic design and the fact its an older product. so id figured id use it maybe or just clean it and hang up on the wall lol
but iv read and heard that they produce more power after 2500 rpm so most guys would get gears to make up for the little torque loss.
is that true?

If its free than I wouldnt question it. As I said though, I would use it but with a throttle switch on my nitrous in a racing application. But if your doing street driving, a taller tire with some gears and you should be okay. Good Luck...

I have a Holley Sytemax 1 lower that would complement that upper very well.
I run a box type intake on a forced induction car. I can't tell you if it is any better than a long runner intake in my application because I never tried it. I will say that it sure is easy getting to the valve covers with a box upper.
