Default Holley fuel pumps....

Can they be rebuilt? Mine works...sometimes....after it's been on a while, it gets quieter (but still loud enough to hear it) and the pressure falls. Then a few seconds later, it starts up again and all is well. It has completely died once also, and I tapped it with a hammer, and it started working again.

So, can they be rebuilt and solve this issue?

It could also be the motor part of the pump itself. I went through several on the race car. They would be fine for about the first 10-15 minutes then quit completely. Half hour later they would run fine again. Went through 3 this way until we finally discovered a bad ground. We couldn't have the rebuilt because the motor itself burned out. Most of the rebuild kits I have seen only replace the pump mechanical parts.

You can test the motor with an ohm meter. On the Holley Blues and Reds it should read around 10-12 ohms. If it is a lot lower than that, the motor could be bad.

No, I can hear it spinning, but no pressure..... I will check the ohms this weekend though just to make sure.

if you hear it spinning but no pressure it could be the 4 little vanes in the bottom that push the fuel. A lot of times they get stuck in the round housing. Pull bottom plate off and a round piece will come out and the 4 vanes should be able to move freely. Sometimes I have used a little sand paper to clean them up.

That's what I'm thinking Zman. The car sat for about 2 years without running. Then, one day, I decided to rebuild the carb, and replace the fuel lines, and filters, and fire it up. It fired up right away, but after driving the car for a while, it started acting up.
