Another day older and deeper in Debt
Today I went on a $1250 shopping spree at work. After Saturday night's clutch fiasco, I am finally buckling down and replacing the clutch that should have been replaced about a year ago. Just purchased a Sach's clutch, Quaife limited slip diff, FocusSport aluminum flywheel, and Z-engineering motor mount. Since I am investing this much money in the car, it is definately staying around for a while. The Mustang dreams are once again put on hold...for now.

The entire front crossmember may or may not have to be dropped. I am getting mixed feedback from people. Most say "yes", but the guys over at FocusSport say the transmission can be dropped without dropping the crossmember, so I'm waiting for them to get back to me. If only I lived over in Cali, I would have them take care of it for me.
BTW...Scott you have a PM....I need some more Ford parts to accomplish this task.

the flywheel replacement is a great mod in the focus (almost as good a mod as adjustable cam gears) i was shocked when i found out the reason those things have no throttle response is due to the 23 lb FLYWHEEL :o :o :o :o :o :o (i think that is what it weighs any way) and that is just toooooo damn heavy!!

Well I have been doing further research, and I have come to the conclusion that I am going to shell out the $$ to have Ford do the install. There is so much shit that has to be done that I would rather have people with the right "special tools" get this job done. Not only am I having problems getting part numbers for various bearings and races...but I'm also learning that the races have to be shimmed if you take them out and that the shims are $130 for a full set. :o Tomorrow I will check on a price on installation from Ernie Haire Ford. I'm hoping this won't take more than a day to accomplish since I am going to have to rent a car while the Focus is down.

The reason I am leaning towards the dealership is they are probably the most experienced people around here as far as ripping into a Focus transmission.
