i want to do a carb conversion with the edelbrock victor jr manifold but if i do how do i eliminate all the sensors and all that crap lik the pcv and all em sensors on the manifold?

thank you

if thats a stock motor I would not put a victor jr on it. its designed to work way out of your motors rpm range.

What problems are you having? My f150 had over 250K hard miles on it. The only thing I changed was the throttle positioning switch (twice) the o2 sensors (once) and the idle motor (once). I also cleaned out the EGR passages (once). Really, barring any vacuum leaks, (like the one behind the battery that is fairly common) it was fine.

it runs like when i get a sparkplug wet but sparplugs dont get wet anymore.
i went to autozone and plugged n the computer and it said it was the pcv sensor, but my dad just wants the easy way out and so do i lol so thats why we are lookin for a manifold to carburate it and eliminate all sensors.

Trust me , that's not the easy way out. Mileage will go to hell with a carb, you're gonna have to find a way to interface the computer with the manifold, I would just really consider fixing what you have. As for the PCV sensor, again, sounds liek a vacuum leak, go check the lines and specifically go look BEHIND the battery box, that is where most of the leaks (that i have found) are generated, in the line going to the vacuum canister behind the battery box.

To my knowledge there is no carb manifold for the NPI heads anyway. They only have them for the PI heads. The PI manifold will physically bolt to the NPI heads,.. but the ports will be mismatched and will require some finagling to make work.

The other issue is cost vs economy. By the time you get done throwing a carb on there you will be at least $1000 lighter in the wallet. The carb conversion requires an intake, carb, gaskets and the Edelbrock stand alone ignition setup which still requires the timing sensors to be functional. Then you have the issue of your transmission. If its an automatic, I'm not sure how the lack of the EFI will effect the shifting of the transmission being that its 100% controlled by the ECM.

$250 for a cheap carb
$300 for the intake
$300 for the ignition
$100 in gaskets
$50 - $100+ for misc BS that always comes up.
-----------------------------------------------------
Be cheaper to just do the maintenance the truck needs.

The 97 is 14 yrs old. They require regular maintenance beyond just tune ups. Gaskets, vacuum lines, hoses etc will all degrade over time. Usually at around 7 - 10 yrs of age most if not all hoses and lines should have been replaced. If thats not the case then you have your work cut out for you. O2 sensors need to be replaced periodically as do other sensors. Some sensors can get away with just a simple cleaning. If the cats are still stock and the truck is pushing 200k miles then they are robbing a good bit of power from the truck by now. My truck is an 04 and I just hit 133k recently and I just yanked the cats last last week. They were pretty choked up. There are other are you should look into as well considering the age of the truck. The front suspension being one of them. Tie rod ends, upper and lower bushings, when was the last time the transmission was flushed and the filter changed? What about the rear end? Not saying you need to fix everything at once. Just that when you let things go until they create a problem then you are only creating problems for yourself. With regular maintenance you should almost never have a problem. I've never had a problem with my truck up until recently luv bugs clogged my radiator and tranny cooler and my tranny over heated causing the torq converter to go bad. Beyond that I have never had an issue. But I am religious about the maintenance on my truck. If you want to keep your truck and not run it into the ground you should do the same.

The 2v 4.6 is a great motor that will run practically forever with proper maintenance.

dam so im pretty much stuck wit EFI
oh well

i know i hav no vaccum leaks i alredy checked, gas milage aint bad if i dont have a heavy foot which causes it to shake like hell but i get an average of 18 city now with that problem so i guess ill just replace sensors every time until i decide to swap to a nice old fashion motor with almost no wiring and solving my problems then just be my lazy self again
but thank you guys for the help i really apreciate it

srsly, just to make you feel better, remove the battery and check the vacuum line running into the square vacuum canister, it wears through back where oyu can't see it, sometimes the canister also cracks, you can fix it with a little sanding and JB weld so it's a no- money fix.
