what the domestic guys fail to mention, is the cost of their new mustangs and camaro's. right away they've spent at least 10,000 dollars on a vehicle that is in the 13's, and another 1000 or so on nitrous or more if they choose a supercharger. personally, i can't afford to spend 10k on a vehicle.
my car: 2200
motor: 2000
tuning: 500
that is 4700.
i should run low 14's...with 2000 more spent, i should hit low 13's...possibly high 12's.
still, thats 6700 dollars.
in the end i'd say its probably cheaper to get a honda into the 12's, unless your'e talking about older v8's...like the fox bodies. however, i've driven a fox body and its hard for me to imagine anyone driving around in one as a daily driver and enjoying themselves.
dsm's are probably as easy to get into the 12's...but i don't have any experience with them.
i'm curious to see what everyone else says...and the reason not many people who drive honda's are in the 12's is lack of knowledge. too many people are riding around with turbo kits on untuned motors or "built" motors that aren't built properly.
and granted, the v8's on this board are fast, but it takes a lot of money to go that fast...mainly because the newer v8's cost a lot of money to begin with.
