Shifting 101
Another good tip we gathered from the pros is how to shift. Many people just grab the shift knob and try to force it into position. If you want to be consistent with every shift you must make it simple and effective. Here is a trick to hit the ever-elusive third gear. Instead of grabbing the knob like a baseball and ramming it forward and to the right ( top photo), use the palm of your hand and push the stick straight forward from Second to Third (bottom photo). It feels like you’re trying to go into First, but it’ll drop into Third just as slick as snot.
