Easiest way with the Focus is with a custom burned chip. There aren't different speedo gears to swap around like on a Mustang, and the speedometer is read/calculated in the ECU (not mechanical).

that means there are multiple ways to do this depending on the car(and you said the easiest way)

any others that come to mind just basic detail is needed
i can get into all this another day in depth in the proper forum

Well on any car with a mechanical speedometer, you can generally swap gearing. Some companies also make a electonic box that allows you to adjust what the speedometer reads. Perhaps one of the other Ford people here can tell you exactly where to purchase this. I am assuming you want something like this for your Escort GT?

i like the stock size tires
they look good
gt had bigger tires then the lx

I just got one of those electric speedo corrector boxes for my truck. Added 33 inch tires and the speedo is all messed up, which also screwed up tranny shift points, etc.

Mine was made by Superlift. Supposedly works on just about any companies electronics. We'll see how the install goes.
