Thumbs down question!!

So I traded the crown vic I had for a 96 ranger splash, v6 3.0l 5speed.
So far I installed a 17" electric cooling fan and nothing else

But I was wondering if I could get a v6 mustang transmission and swap it.
Would it fit on this motor???

Only reason I was thinking of doing that is because the transmission on it now sucks, I hav to floor it so 2nd gear can go in or wait til it revs down lik 20 seconds so it can allow me to shift to it, but not only that it is slow as f×ck. I ran a 0-60 in 11 seconds. And I know its not a big v8 but the motor I know can do more. So any ideas please let me know.

Thanks

So you're saying the current trans is broke, yes?
IMO check the current gearing on your vehicle, then check the ones on the mustang, you can potentially screw yourself over if you get a trans with either too high, or too low of a first gear. No one likes to drive 3 feet and have to shift. My wife has a v6 ranger step side, and it's actually pretty decent with an auto, so the 5 speed should be even better.

well thats the thing, i drive lik 5 feet and shift to 2nd, but my 2nd gear only goes in easy when i rev my 1st to over 3000rshared_pm or i have to wait till the motor revs down so it goes in.
Its lik if the tranny is low on fluid but its not, so i just figured if i can get a used mustang tranny for 300 bucks i can junk this old one and that way i dont shift every 5 feet. But i just need to know if the 3.8l v6 mustang tranny fits my 3.0l without adapting anything.

Ok so I gt another problem... every time it starts it takes 10 to 15 seconds to start, when it starts up for a bit and put it in 1st gear and start moving I accelerate and it stalls then it keeps going normal

At first I thought it was my fuel pump failing to send fuel but today it stalled and turned off on me and I kept crankin it 4 like 35 minutes and when it started it started missing and sounded lik crap. It ran weak till it turned off on me again and then another 10 minuts till it started again then it ran normal. Plus when I come to a stop or turn it smells lik strong fuel from the rear but no leaks

Anyone have any idea what this could be???

does the ck engine light come on . pull codes. could be a bad sensor or connecter. or stuck injector. sounds like its flooding if you smell fuel. pull the dipstick and see if the oil smells like fuel.

I think you can swap in a T5 tranny if you use a turbo coupe belle housing. Just can't remember if that is just for the 4 cyl though.
