Default Cobra needs a new drive shaft

well.. i found out today on I-75 on the way down to the NOPI show that i have the dreaded "vibration" above 80 MPH .. so Monday I am gonna call my dealer and see if they have teh TSB about it and get them to order me a new indexed drive shaft... also fix teh small fitment issue with the center console and the two sap marks on my paint from teh car sitting under a tree before i bought it..

dissapointing.. but at least there is a fix.

other than that i love it 600 odd miles on it now.. so i am opening her up

Hasn't that problem been around since the 1999 model year!?!
You'd think they'd have fixed it in production!

Yeah, it's been around since 99 (actually, probably longer but unnoticed). Because both ends of the driveshaft are mounted to the chassis (front throught the tranny and rear through the differential) rather than having one end sprung (like with the solid axle), any imbalance of the driveshaft is far more noticable.

Mine was fine when I got the car, but now that I have the new tranny, it vibrates. I only notice it > 100, so... I'm not gonna bitch.

yeah./. the TSB is 010803 i think.. something like that..

seems the drive shafts made for the 03 had a bad batch... some of the 1st run cars got em.. they have fixed the machine that was making bad ones.. and i can get my dealer to order a new one.. no big deal.. needs to be fixed though.. cant drive over 80.

I plan to go T56 w/ aluminum driveshaft eventually (although that's on hold for a while cuz I just found a house and all my surplus cash is going towards my down payment and closing costs). Anyhow, since I hate dealing with the dealer, I'll deal with vibration > 100.... it's good... reminds me to slow the fuck down.
