Are 86 mustangs worth any thing 1 is 4 cyl 5 speed rod knock with great interior. The other is a 5.0 automatic with h pipe exaust that runs with less that 100 000 miles but needs interior. That all the info i got so far sorry but is the 86 5.0 atleast worth anything?

the orange 1 is the 1 that drives

i just updeated the miles for it and so you think i could get $2000 all together? Not really a ford guy so if i traded the first thing i would do is swap over the interior sell the 5.0 and then sell the 2.3 for like idk 3-400 bucks. Is that realistic when it comes to these cars

I just sold a 4 banger notch to a dragster guy for 4 or 500 bucks, so that should be do-able, the body was cherry however.

Hard market selling anything right now.
Mustangs in particular are barely fetching 50% of what they were 3 yrs ago.

With anything,.. you can advertise for what ever price you'd like,.. I see cars on craigslist listed for $12k,.. and then 3 ads down you see an identical car posted for $4500. Its the old adage,.. wish in one hand and shit in the other, see which one fills up first.

The over all condition will dictate what the car sells for. 4 cylinder cars arent getting much money,.. running or not. A good clean V8 roller with 3 pedals will usually fetch more money than a 4 cylinder automatic thats in better running condition.

A car plagued with rust will also be a hard sell. I personally wont touch a car thats riddled with cancer. In my experience,.. the little bit you do see,.. there will be twice as much that you dont see once you start tearing the car down. If the car is riddled with rust you can pretty cut in half what ever you were expecting to get out of either car. The amount of money and work involved to 'properly' repair the car usually costs more than the car will ever sell for. Anyone that does buy them are usually only doing so to part out and junk the rest. You may consider the same. Take the car apart,.. clean up what you can and take pictures of each item and sell it that way. You'll usually get more money out of a car thats in rough condition when parted out.

Not trying to knock you down. Just trying to be realistic with you. Fox Mustangs are still a dime a dozen. The only cars that bring good money will be low mileage original examples,.. or cars that have been built and have 3 times the money in them that the owner is asking for.

Also something to ponder when looking at the mileage. If you see 35k on the odometer of an 86 Mustang and the car has been driven regularly. Odds are thats 235k - 335k miles (or more) on the car. 302 engines will run forever if properly maintained. I mean think about it,.. most 2004 Mustangs are now approaching 100k - 150k miles. It would be foolish to believe a 25 year old car thats been driven daily to have less than 100k on the odometer.
