I have an 04 3.9 v6. Car has 74k miles. I bought the car at 27k miles 3yrs ago. i notice about 3-6 months after i bought it and there was not a warranty from gator ford that when i shifted into 5th gear there was some grinding. I later figured out that its the 5th/reverse sychronizer. That was 2 1/2 yrs ago. I still drive it but ofcourse it has gotten worse, but it still is okay to drive.


My question is should i get a rebuilt tranny, fix just the sychro or do a rebuild on my tranny?

Drive it like it doesnt have synchros and it'll last awhile. When you rebuild they will be replaced.Why would you need a different trans just for that?
