What size hood?need the carb guys advice.

Default What size hood?need the carb guys advice.

wondering what size hood i would need for my 1989 hatch.getting close to being done.i don"t want to big of a hood.351w soild mounts ,performer rshared_pm intake,750 holley 2 inch spacer.depending on air cleaner size,would a 3" hood clear?most air cleaners are around 4 inchs i think.so what you think car b guys

I think its Holcomb, they sell 351 drop mounts. I think it lowers motor an 1". For a street car, I prefer the looks of nothing more than 3". Running a carb spacer, you can get the drop base for the air cleaner to help tuck it some more.
3" shouldnt be a problem

i have had a 5" before.it was ok,but it takes alot of your view away.i don"t want to choke the motor up with a small air cleaner.

the mounts i got are drop mounts.i did not no they where until i sat the motor in the car.the oil pan was sitting on my power rack lol!.i fixed that problem when i stuck the Flaming River in.it has a small center shaft.

No real proof, but for some reason, I think pushrod motors sit higher in a SN than a Fox

yea i think they do .in my 95 GT i had the cobra R 2inch hood and it didnt even come close to clearing with the 351w and the trick flowR boxed intake.but the cobra i just got it has a 5inch hood way to big for me
