Default Off Topic...98? Ford Explorer issues

Okay well i blew my car up yesterday and went on the hunt for a car and i found a late 90's ford explorer for pretty much free.A buddy had ran into motor problems and had replaced the motor and the transmission for 900 from a salvage yard.I watched him work on it and when it came down to it the truck fired right up but heres the problem once u put the car in drive or put a load on the motor it like stalls out n just turns off?He also isnt to familiar with transmissions but had mounted this one so im thinking its something simple that he cld have missed or maybe a sensor?Idk..If any one has ideas to what it cld be have no hessitation and lmk your opinions...thanks

Does it stall immediately as soon as you put it in gear? Need more of a description.
What do you mean by put a load on the motor?

Trucks in park you turn the key and it fires up...put ur foot on the brake and put it right to drive and it instantly stalls

Sounds to me like, possibly he didnt get the converter seated in the pump properly. If you havent put in a few transmissions, its something that could be easily done wrong "converter"

Does it try to move the truck at all? Does it sound like the motor is being "pulled" down when put in gear?
