has anyone seen a 87-93 mustang with the old school mustang honeycomb wheels?
if so could u post up some pics
im lookin at gettin a set and sell mine for some extra cash but dont want to unless they look half way decent

The only honey comb style I ever heard of were on Pontiacs. The last real GTO's and the 70's Trans Am's came with them as an upgrade with the WS6 option.


As for the mesh type wheels,.. do you mean these?




These were 15x7 Enkie wheels. BBS makes a very similar wheel but with different center caps. I forget the actual syle number. Popular from about 1982 to about 1993. I dont think they were made beyond that. The center caps are extremely difficult to locate and the ones you do find generally cost more than the wheels just for 1 cap. I had 2 caps and could not find any center caps for less than $100 so I left it like this. Traded a 75mm MAF housing for these wheels. I chose 225/65 tires up front and 245/60 out back. These are not called Honey Comb. Like Greg stated,.. they are called Enkie or BBS 'Mesh' type wheels. They came in both, 4 lug and 5 lug, and both GM and Ford bolt patterns and offsets. Very popular on BMW's, Porsche, Audi's, Datsun 280z and a few other cars I remember seeing them on. McLaren and Saleen both used these style wheels on their cars as well.

Ford never made them.

Several different company made similar styles like those wheels. BBS and Enkie are probably the 2 most popular. Not all 4 lug will have the right backspace for Mustangs. They were a popular aftermarket wheel during the 80's. Audi, Porsche, VW, and BMW could all be found with them.

As for the Mustang,.. The only time I ever saw those wheels on a Mustang in a dealer showroom were on the Saleen or McLaran cars.

The Enkie wheels would have exposed lug nuts. The BBS wheels had both,.. exposed lug nuts and where the center cap covered the lug nuts. Also,.. depending on the age of the wheels. 14 inch wheels were still very common back then especially on European and Asian cars.

I love '80s mesh wheels, and I'm a bit of a wheel whore in general, so I've got 3 sets of Enkei 92 mesh wheels now... 2 sets in 16x7 and one in 15x7, all in 4x108mm/4x4.25" bolt pattern. I've been considering selling of the 16x7 sets because the offset is wrong for my XR4TI, but I just haven't been able to bring myself to part with 'em yet.
