Default shifting into gear

I have an 09 mustang gt and have had problems the past two days of shifting my car into gear at a stand still. Also, it's a bit tough to shift gears while driving. Last week I missed a couple times and grinded my gears. Any suggestions?

Check the slave cylinder fluid. If it sucked some air you will need to bleed the clutch. Does the clutch feel spongy or the pedal sit lower than normal?

Doubtful,.. but check the line. I dont know if they use a rubber hose or a solid conduit. If its going through a hose from the reservoir down to the slave cylinder check to see if the line is not swollen from heat,.. (Long tubes?). If swollen,.. it can cause what your describing. Usually not a problem on new cars,.. but when they get older the line swells from age. But if you put long tubes on,.. or Ford put it too close to the exhaust the line can swell from excessive heat and the clutch will feel spongy and not operate normally.

If none of the above,.. how many miles are on the clutch? Do you run it at the track with sticky tires? Do you slip the clutch a lot? If so your clutch disc may just be worn and needing replacement.

.
He needs to check his build date. It's a common problem with all s197's using the 3650 though. Mine started having the same symptoms (built in july 06), switched to royal purple and they went away. That being said, bring it to the dealer if it's under warranty. If not try switching fluids first.

Its an 09,.. just take back to the dealer. Give the service writer a hard time and get them to deal with it. Dont let them just change the fluid. They need to actually service the thing and that means removing it and opening it up.

Changing the fluid yourself can possibly void your warranty if you use a non approved fluid.

Ford hasnt made a transmission since the 60's. Unless you count the AOD and even most of that was done out of house. Both GM and Ford have been contracting other companies for manual tranny's since the 60's. Borg Warner mainly. GM had Saginaw and Muncie,.. but were still GM designs. Ford used 3 and 4 spd Borg Warner T10's since the 50's. The last manual Ford did was the Top loader and that tranny is arguably one of the best 'factory' trannys ever made. Comparable to a Muncie M22.

The GT's are still using a hydrualic version of the Tremec 3650.
They are still having the same issues with it that they've had since 01 only now they complicated it with a hydraulic clutch adding the same issue the 4th gen Fbodies had with their T56. Talk to any Fbody guy,.. I've done a few clutch in 4th gens myself. Bleeding the slave is a PITA,.. and more so when you have to pull it all back apart to shim the slave cylinder because there isnt enough pedal. I hate hydraulic clutches.
