Default Crank Pulley leaking oil ???

Hey any of you guys with pullies. I put mine on about 2 weeks ago, and have noticed a very small amount of oil that seems to be coming from behind the pulley. I'm guessing I wasn't liberal enough with the gasket maker in the keyway, but wanted to see if anyone agreed/disagreed with me before I go fight that damn crank bolt and bitch the pulley off the crank.

I used a dab in the keyway as the installation calls for. Any suggestions on how much to use the second time around?

when i had my U/D pullies I had a leak. It turned out I eat my gasket, and the oil was coming from there.

Well, I just fought that damned bolt by hand... (I've got air tools, but my impact wrench is too big to fit in there unless I take the radiator out... which I am NOT doing). Pulled it off, and had oil inside the pulley behind the timing adjuster, so I'm figuring the keyway is the culprit. I loaded it up with RVT silicone, so hopefully it will hold.

I drove with mine leaking for 6monthes and never had a problem.

Lets see you put 12#s of boost into your motor and see if it blows. So don't hate on the mod motors we just like to live on the edge.

Well, I redid it last night, so hopefully the leak is gone. When I got the timing adjuster off, I had a nice little pool of oil sitting inside the pulley, so I'm pretty sure it was me not being liberal enough with the RVT in the first place. The instructions said a 'dab', so i used a dab... This time, I filled all but the last 1/8 inch of the keyway. Maybe I should have packed it with RVT too...

yeah, it was torqued properly (actualy 99+ has a different torquing procedure. torque to x. back off 1 turn torque to y. torque an additional 90*) or something like that. It's in the garage and I'm not, so......

It was definitely me being too conservative in the keyway. I got the timing adjuster off and had oil sitting in there (not much, but a little).

It hasn't leaked yet since I redid it, so I think it's fixed. I'll keep an eye on it for a hile though.
