unless its the pinion angle... I haven't been able to check that yet..

I am trying to think cheap fixes, the car is not needed but if I could make it bearable to take to work I will. To save the paint on the truck from getting ate off by the plant I work at.

It could be the driveshaft itself. Is there someone close to you that you could borrow one from?

How long have you had the car? Where did it come from?

I have a mustang restoration shop about 5 minutes from me. That's a good idea.

They always have about 5 or 6 fox bodies sitting outside... and I have a neighbor a couple blocks away building a fox .. Never talked to him though.

I got it off TR less than 2 weeks ago. I planned on using a lot of parts off of it for my project. I was going to daily it for a little while though because it has working a/c ... But if I cant take it on the freeway comfortably I really have no use to keep it drivable.

its hard to tell from the looks, but when I pulled the carpet up to put a clean rug in, the rocker panels had been hit up hard enough to break the floor pans open like a tuna can.. you could see through to the ground where the rocker met the floor pan.. so i just hammered it back into shape and put the new used rug in. The undercarriage is quite abused, but the drive shaft looked pretty good.

I have skimmed through the thread briefly but just a quick shot in the dark...

Your driveshaft may be slightly bent/dented and/or your tailshaft bushing worn...

If your driveshaft is bent your slip yoke could be riding on the tailshaft bushing and it finally wore bad enough to cause the severe vibrations...

You can take a look at your slip yoke and see if there is any burn/wear marks on it..or if you notice it is smooth as glass and uneven wear

I would also inspect the tailshaft bushing very closely make sure its not worn or damaged.

Bingo!

The driveshaft looked fine to the eye, but maybe an end bell is slightly bent?? I pulled it again to re-asses the yolk like you said, and it does have discoloration around an uneven polished area. . It is slightly worn more on one side, but I have to really look to notice it, more of a feel it than see it type of wear.

I guess I need a new driveshaft and tailshaft bushing. Since this is a donor car for my project I have a reason to get an aluminum driveshaft because it will go to better use later

Thanks for the help everybody!

Thanks Tony!

Updates on the problem when I get a new driveshaft for it in a month or so. I have to fix the a/c in my wife's car and take my truck back. Then I can justify spending on this since it's a little more than I wanted to spend on it in the first place. Fixing her car is going to be cheaper at this point, so that is the logical thing to do here.
