Default 275/60 tires

Has anyone ever run 275/60/15's on 15x8.5 wheels with a 5" BS?

I have some centerline convo pro's that I want to trade with a buddy. He wants to run 275/60 tires out back and I dont want him to be unhappy with the trade if he will have problems runnning those tires on my wheels.

Thanks guys,
Hurst

Hey hurst i can say i have ran the 60's on my old 92' Thats ran 9.50's on spray but when i ran the car on motor i went with the 50's cause the 60's is way too much sidewall for that car on motor... I guess it really depends on his setup obviously...

But if he has not bought the tire yet... I will tell you the best drag radial out there right now is the hoosier. I was skeptical of that but When we switched from slick to D/R on our renegade car. The car actually got faster with the hoosiers ( we tried M/T's they sucked... ) & the car drove like a cadilac all the way down the track to low 8's @ 168mph.

So i would def go hoosier if he has not bought his tires yet. && The 60's work great if its the right size tire for the cars setup. So many people always overkill their cars with tire.

Side note: M/T are not bad for slower cars.

Ok Tony,.. thats all good and well. But the question was "Can a 275/60 tire work in a fox with a 5" back space on 15x8.5 wheels?". Has anyone actually run this combo? The car in my sig had 27x10.5 ET STREETs on the same size wheels and fit fine. 275/60 should be the same as a 28x10.5. I believe it would work. But I dont want to put my friend in a position where the wheels and tire combo just wont work. Its just 1/2 inch difference,.. but sometime that can mean a world of difference.

I appreciate the info,.. dont get me wrong. But I'm trying to trade my wheels and have an agenda. Also,.. Nitto has a new drag radial thats supposed to be pretty good.

Thanks Tony,
Anyone else?

Hurst, The sidewall bulge will stick out with that combo..... Unless the car is extremely high they will rub on the outside even if the lip is rolled.....

I think he's questioning the B.S of the wheels w/his only being 5" and not the typical 5.5"

Thats what I was looking for. I know it was close with the 27x10.5's.

I've run 275/60's before on 15x10's with a 6.5" BS. They do fit. But the bs needs to be just right. I had never run a 28x10.5 or 275/60 on a 15x8 or 15x8.5 and just wanted to know how they fit with just a 5" BS.

I kinda figured with out the 1/2 inch BS it would be closer to the outside fender. But,.. by how much I was unsure.

Thanks Frank.
Not what I wanted to hear,.. but better to be right then to have my buddy pissed at me for leaving him stuck with wheels that wont work for him.

Thanks guys,
Hurst
