the locking lugnut key stripped out the locking lug on my rear wheel. how do I remove this? I tried to hammer it back into shape but it is soft and gust gives way to the key. I tried some vice grips but it doesnt seem to work.

 

beat a socket over the lock and remove

 

its round and sloped i had trouble with that

that's a pretty famous thread from a vw forum I believe, and I'm pretty sure Hurst could get it off!!

btw, hammering the socket on it will work if you get the right size, or you could get some special sockets made for that (I think sears sells them) I have a set somewhere.

 

^^They work really well, you can also use an air chisel with a shape edge and go slow, to get it to turn. (if you have the room) What type of wheel?

Bring it to a sears(auto center)...they charge like 10 bucks a wheel lock removal.
