Weird Compression help!
i bought a 95 ford aspire im relacing the radiator because it crracked and the owner told me it was over heating before the water started spraying out for i figured i check head gasket did a compression test
#1 cylinder=170
#2 cylinder=130
#3 cylinder=130
#4 cylinder=130
why would one cylinder be so high its only a 1.3L so i would think compressions not high probly 125-140psi per cylinder why is #1 Getting 170psi thanks

Did you releive all the pressure out the gauge? I have seen people leave 10-40psi in the gauge then when they tested the next cylinder it was super high...

That motor should be pretty decent on the compression numbers it's a higher compression engine ( 9.7:1 ) so your numbers should be in the 170's imo . You either have a worn out motor or blown headgasket/warped head. With one cylinder in the 170's I would bet a blown headgasket/warped head.
if it's a blown headgasket, sounds like a good case for some blue devil...that stuff rocks
. Have yet to see a hole it won't fill up. Used it on an explorer with a blown head gasket so bad water was running out the tailpipe. after using that blue stuff it sealed right up and ran like a kitten, dunno how long it lasted though it was a cash for clunker trade-in for a customer

update i got head all put back on torqued head bolt in 3 stages
1)40
2)60
3)65 they recommend 55-60 but i like to add an extra 5 or so to make sure everything went back together easy let it warm up drove it about 5 miles then came back and did another compression test oh and by the way it doesnt over heat so was a bad head gasket
cyliner 1 compression
1)180 was 170
2)180 was 130
3)165 was 130
4)150-155 was 130
i know thhe number are a little what do u think could cause it valves? and do u think i should be alright with these numbers

If it runs fine go with it. The compression #'s are within 15% which is not horrible.
Sounds like the head is warped or maybe too much water got in the cylinders and you have some compression loss through the rings. Old school trick is to drop a teaspoon of oil in the low cylinders. If the compression bumps up to normal, it's the rings. If it stays the same, it's in the head (valves, warped, cracked, etc. ) .
