A lot of fabbing. Completely different chassis.

S197 uses a simplified version of the 3rd and 4th gen Fbody rear suspension with a top link instead of the torque arm. Other than that,. they are the same thing. 2 lower trailing arms with a single lateral link to locate the rear. Its actually a very good design and why Camaro's always handled better than Mustangs on a road course,.. even though both had a solid rear axle.

I assume you want it for auto-x or raod racing? If you want an IRS out back of an S197,.. grab the IRS out of a late model Tbird. Its on the same S197 chassis. That would work better than the fox based SN95 IRS.

No,.. they used a SN Cobra and did a solid axle swap. It was a 99 or 2000 car IIRC.

S197 are the 05+ cars. Completely different chassis.

The 94 - 04 SN chassis are still the same underneath as a fox. The 99 - 04 IRS are completely plug n play bolt in friendly to all 79 - 04 Mustangs. They do not and will not bolt up to the 05 and newer S197 cars. Spring perches, mount locations and width are different. Not saying it cant be done,.. but I think it with say a 2003/2004 Tbird IRS it would be much much easier.

Heck yeah,.. I dont know much about turbo or blowers. But reading up and doing my homework on them as we speak!

I dont know much about the new/er V8 Chrysler's either.

I'm an avid reader. I worked at a gas station when I was a kid. Back then gas stations had a garage and people brought their cars there to be worked on. I was a pump jockey. You didnt pump your own gas back then. People would pull up and say fill it with regular or I need $10 of hi-test or Premium. Then I had to wash their windshield,.. and if they asked I would check their oil and air in their tires. $3.10hr. On weekends I worked the midnite shift. After midnite maybe 1 or 2 cars would show up. It got pretty boring in there for a 16 yr old with nothing to do. Its not like they had a magazine rack with a wide assortment of reading material,.. so I went into the garage where I found a collection of Hayes and Chiltons auto repair manuals that covered everything from 1960 - the current 1980. These were not the cheezy little Chiltons books you see in the parts stores today. These books were as big an encyclopedia's. They covered EVERYTHING in detail. What engines came in what cars,.. the different HP ratings of each,.. exhaust, transmissions, rear ends, gear ratios, vin and part # identifications. I spent a whole summer studying those books and absorbed them like a sponge. The rest comes from hands on experience or more reading. When a new car comes out,.. I like to know what chassis it sits on,.. so if I ever get one,.. I know what parts to go after from other cars if I need something. Back in the day a 60amp alt for a Camaro was $30. The same alt with the same part number but for a Cadillac was $60. If I owned a Cadi,.. why would I want to pay $60 for something I could get for $30? As trivial as that sounds,.. if your doing your own work,.. its good to know these kinds of things.

I've been called a walking human Chilton's before. I find something that I am deeply passionate about,.. then for what ever reason,.. any information I read about it just sinks in like a sponge and stays there. My wife says thats why I do so well with computers. Camaro's and Mustangs are my favorite, and mid 60's to early 70's American cars in general, is another area I know too much about.
