Default Shifting AOD!!

Im 16 years old and i got my licence 3 months ago and my dad bought me a 1993 LX 5.0. Since then ive put a 4.10 gear and Flowmasters in. I was wondering how do u shift the automatic AOD. You start in L (1st) then what do u do? Shift up to 2nd then back down to first? Thats what some kid told me. Please help

well its not very nice on the trans...but what i used to do when i had AOD was start in L when u hit ur shift point click it into D wait for it to shift and imediatly pull it back down in L, u can feel the whole car jump and accelerate alot harder, but its sooo terrible on the trans...but who cares AOD suck wiener anyways..blow it the fuck up

though for me, you'd have to change it to 10 inches, and you'd have to change inches to millimeters, and you'd have to change 10 to 5 and you'd have to change dick to poor excuse for one.

heh mines in the shop because of that I bet, but oh well, I wanted a fresh tranny. There is no safe way bro, get a chip to make it shift firmer and it will be great. Im currently looking into a chip now.

from what people have told me its not worth trying to shift it manualy. just leave it in drive and step on da gas.

Who told you that??? It makes a WORLD of difference on my car. The AOD likes to shift about 500-800rpms off of redline, which is right where my car is pulling like a raped ape. Sure its bad for the tranny (thats why I only have 3 working forward gears at the moment ), but it does make quite a dramatic difference since the auto likes to shift early and do all the weird AOD hesitation mind games.

switching to T5....or spend 2000 making ur AOD bulletproof....how many miles do u have on ur AOD? u have a shift kit, dont you? i had 94k on my stock AOD and did it quite often and it took me a while to blow it up, but then i was racing a z28 and i let off the gas and went to click it into O/D and well...the shift lever went but the trans didnt.. oh well..it made it home, and around town i just didnt really have an o/d from then on
