I have 4.10s w/ my AOD. Is that a good enough gear for my car? Or should i have gone w/ 3.73 or something? What kinda gear will make my car run the fastest?

 

4.10 is perfect for a aod, it might hurt you in the wallet a little bit if you do a lot of highway driving but nothing major. the only think i will say is get drag radials, with street tires and a 4.10 you are like Cheech and Chong, up in smoke.

 

it also depend where ur end goal is...i know my end goal was 11.60's with power adder, when i had my AOD everyone told me that with 4.10 gear and power adder going that fast ill be hitting redline b4 i hit the 1/4 mi mark, so i would have to either drop to a lower rear gear or switch to manual.

with a 4.10 gear and AOD you could run into the 10s before you run out of gear.

 

ur not supposed to race in O/D...so unless its a built AOD such as lentech and has a different gearing inside the trans u will run out of gear..with my C4..which is 3spd no O/D i am at 5700 at 110mph...and 11.60 sec pass should put me around 118-120ish..if im redlining at 110 what do u call the next 8-10mph? rev limiter..id say, u can take an AOD into the 10's sure, but ur gonna need a 8-9k redline.

you can't compair you 3speed to a aod. what did you redline at prior to your C4? i will put money on it that it was not at 110 and if it was you had some major problems.

 

i have always been told not to race in O/D, the o/d band is weak and racing in it will cause complications after a while...so in that case i would say it might have been somewhere around 110 NOT in o/d...i however did race in overdrive quite often and look where my AOD is now...in the trash...but just as an FYI in o/d ive hit almost 140
