To Tune or not ?
I'm sure you guys have seen my posts for my car up for sale. I haven't gotten any reasonable offers for her even though The price is cheap
Anyways, I'm debating on getting a tune or replacing the heads. What do you guys think?
Should I go with say some GT40's and a more milder cam because of valve clearances, or tune my current setup and see where I am ? I've only got about $500 to play with
Here's a quick rundown of my setup:
---------------------------------------
87 Block with valve relief pistons
86 E-6 heads with 1.6 SVO rockers
High lift "hot" cam. Unsure on the lift/duration as I got the car with it but it has a pretty nasty lope and almost no idle vacuum.
A9T computer, MAF Conversion with Pro Flow 24lb MAF and 24lb flow matched injectors
Cobra Upper and Lower intake with a BBK throttle body
TCI rebuilt, reverse valve body C-4, with an SFI flexplate and the streetfighter torque converter to an aluminum driveshaft and 3.55 gears.
Using a Hurst quarterstick

I would guess, from everyone that has listened to the car idle, a 550-600 ish lift with a pretty long duration i.e. not even close to enough vacuum for the brake booster.
That torque converter is a high stall torque converter though designed for a 280-300 duration so it's not too horrible to drive, just idles like crap and manual brakes essentially lol.

On a budget try a stock HO cam and some GT40/p heads. I doubt you need the 24 lb'rs at this point. Even E-7's would help.

Well if I don't get any decent offers on the car in the next few weeks I'll just put some GT40's on her with a cam. Any suggestions on a cam or just a stocker ?

if you are gonna take it apart look at the part number on the cam. everyone thinks my cam is .600 lift. and its not even .500 . lift does not make a cam sound lumpy its the duration and lobe seperation. gt40 heads are a nice upgrade. e cam or trick flow stage 1 or something like that
