Default still got the fuel pressure problem

I've put a holley blue pump on it (used from DrDirt) and new regulator(thanks pshull)and the pressure still isn't stable. It jumps from 3 to 12 psi.My question is. The sending unit in the tank. I never dropped the tank so I dont know what BS job was done to that. If there is still a pump in it. What do I need to do to correctly fix this problem? It already had a cheapo mr.gasket pump on it when I bout it. It ran ok. after puting on the MSD the problems started with the motor popping at 3-4k RPM(no tach yet so thats a guess)like starving for fuel. What do I need to do? please help. thanks Rob

If the probem started with the MSD try another box...they go bad. Did you try blocking that return on the regulator?

Drop tank and see if FI pump is still in there. You have to have pressure set way too high. Even if the pump is in tank, the pressure shouldnt go above the preset pressure...agree?

preset pressure on what. If its still in tank, will that throw it all off? 2 pumps isn't a good thing. I had to replace my pick up in my 89 fox.

i was thinking that the msd added more fire, therefor using more fuel. pos mr.gasket pump couldn't handle it. I'll try another box if I can find one to borrow.
