FR500 fitment
I'm looking at a set of FR500's for my coupe, 17x9 front & 17x10.5 rears. I've heard about different fitment issues with the rears. I have already beat the inner fenderwells in and removed the quad shocks. I currently have Weld 15x8's in the back w/275/50/15 tires and it is already tight with the tailpipes. I have stock length axles 5 lug conversion.
The FR500's have these specs:
Rear
6.8 backspacing
+28mm offset
Front
5.94 backspacing
+24mm offset
Does anybody know what else I'll need to do to make them fit right? I've heard I have to roll the fenders? Will the 10.5 stick out past the fender?
Any help would be appreciated.

Normally with 10.5" wheels the Fox and SN95 cars have a 6.5" BS. The 6.5" BS works well on the SN95 cars and depending tire choice (brand) usually will determine if they clear the quad shocks. SN95 has a little more fender and almost a full inch on both sides of the axle to clear the quads with a 6.5" BS. On Fox bodies you almost always have to remove the quads with a 10.5 wheel. With a 6.8" BS will put the wheel a 'hair' closer to the inner fender well. But,.. this should help clear the outer fender lip better and with say a Nitto (They tend to be a little narrower vs BFG) tire they should tuck in just fine.
17x10.5 with a 6.8" BS and 315 tire should work back there. At the most you might need to bang the inner fender well a bit more if you go with something like BFG or a 'wide' 315 tire. For example,.. a 275/40 BFG is almost as wide as a Nitto 315/35. Barely 1/2 inch difference. As long as you have fox width axles out back you'll be fine.
17x9 wheels up front offer their own issues. If you run coil overs up front your going to need a spacer,.. 245/45 and 275/40 will both rub the springs depending on your height setting. The other problem is on lowered cars the alignment needs to be just right,.. else they have a bad tendency to rub the fender liner during turns. If you can find 17x8 wheels with a 245 tire they will work better up front. You can make the 17x9 work,.. just dont be surprised if there is a little rubbing up front.
This car is a prime workable example of 17x9 up front and 17x10.5 out back. And the back wheels have a 6.5 BS, so if they clear the outer fender with 6.5,.. a 6.8 should be perfect.

This is my car when Dingle Dork had it.
The wheels were 17x9, the rear axle was an SN95 axle. Much too wide for the car with those wheels on the back. As long as you have fox width axles you will be fine.

Thanks for the link. It looks like Novi's wheels stick out a little to far for my liking. I may want to go with 17x9's on all 4 corners, I just like the look of the DD on the rears.
