Actually I guess it applies to any older car.

I just bought a 91 tempo with 11600 miles. It rides just fine but I am worried about the tires. Theyre original tires.

When I turn a corner the tires squeal a little. And I mean at 20mph taking a regular turn not turning hard not going fast...20mph. It didnt squeal when I really layed on the gas from a standstill. The car is a 3 speed auto.

My girlfriend is going to be driving it and Ill put new tires on if its necessary. Ive seen some cars with some nasty tires. These tires dont look that bad.

Ill add some air to them seems theyre a little low (26 psi manual indicates 30 psi recommended)

BTW anyone know of a way to get a owners manual? My Mazda didnt come with one ):

only thing you need to check for if they are that old is dry rott which is cracking in the sidewall or tread and the squeeling when you turn is prolly just from cheap tires it doesnt mean they are bad mine do it and its just cause of how wide they are so just check thread depth and dry rott and have tire psi at 30-33 and if all that checks out then they should be fine.

PS- if you dont know how to check this stuff just take it to a tire store and have them check it for free.

I kinda doubt the tread depth is a problem...theyve only got 11600 miles on the tires. Ill check to see if theres any cracking and put the pressure up to 30 psi.

I kinda worry about her driving on a wet road knowing that the tires were doing that on a dry road. But then again the replacement tires would likely be the same width and theyll probably squeal some too.
