Did they actually put 3550's in production Mustangs?

I thought they went from the T5 on the 5.0's to the T45 on the sn95's until 02 when they started using the 3650.

I used a trany from a 95 GT on my fox body. I think the input shaft was longer and it had to be swapped with the one that was in my broken trany. $hawn did the swap for me, so hopefully he will chime in.

3550's were put in some of the 94/95 Saleen 351's for sure. N/A 351 cars got them, I think all the supercharged 351's got the 6 speeds.

Anyway. If I remember right there are two ways to do this.

1. I used to see a billet almn spacer for the rear of the driveshaft that goes between it and the yoke in the rearend. I think is like 3/4 " or somehting. (if I can find a source and part number I will PM it to you.)

2. You get a custom length driveshaft.

It can be done.

I did it, didn't do anything special except slid the crossmember forward.
drove it for four years (3 on a 175 shot), never an issue.

314 on motor, don't recall torque, never dyno'ed on nitrous (175 shot)

used gm synchromesh and a pro 5.0 with a cobra clutch and never had any issues, shifted as good as a t5
